A glass rack for whisky glasses gives your glassware a fixed place and turns a tasting into a well-organised whole. This collection features holders made from recycled wood of old whisky casks by Darach Scotland and handmade oak whisky glass holders from Belgium, with or without Glencairn glasses. More about [title]

The holders from Darach Scotland are made for Glencairn whisky glasses and come empty or filled with classic Glencairn glasses or Cut glasses of lead crystal. The whisky glass holders from E.W.B. (Exclusive Whisky Bottles) are handmade in Belgium from oak, with leather pads for each glass, felt strips underneath and a dedicated place for a pipette. Line up your glasses for a tasting along the four flavour profiles of the M4W Flavour Compass.

Which glasses are the holders made from old whisky casks suitable for?

The holders made from old whisky casks by Darach Scotland are designed for Glencairn whisky glasses, both the classic and the Cut version. Each holder is made for a fixed number of glasses, from one to six. If you have other tasting glasses, first check whether the base and height of your glasses fit the holder. There is also a holder for one water jug and one tasting glass.

Should you choose a glass rack with or without glasses?

If you already own Glencairn glasses, a glass rack without glassware is the most economical choice; if you are just starting out, a set with glasses is complete straight away. The sets with classic Glencairn glasses are lead-free crystal, while the sets with Cut glasses are cut lead crystal and feel heavier. The Belgian whisky glass holders are also available with or without matching glassware.

How do you use a glass rack at a whisky tasting?

Place the glasses in the rack in the order you will taste them, usually from light to heavy. For example, start with a whisky that is Smooth & Fruity and finish with Smoky & Powerful, so heavy smoke does not overwhelm the lighter whiskies. Put the bottle or a card behind each glass. A rack with six places and room for a pipette keeps everything clear.

Where does the wood of the Darach holders come from?

Darach Scotland makes its holders from recycled oak from old whisky casks, crafted by hand in Scotland. Darach is Scottish Gaelic for oak, the wood in which whisky matures for years. Because the cask wood has already had a life of its own, each holder has its own vintage look with small differences in colour and grain. That gives your glasses a place with a whisky story.

How do you look after a wooden whisky glass holder?

Wipe a wooden whisky glass holder with a dry or slightly damp cloth and never put it in the dishwasher or in a puddle of water. Let glasses dry properly before putting them back, so no moisture soaks into the wood. The Belgian holders have leather pads and felt strips that protect both the wood and your table. Do not place the holder in bright sunlight or right next to a heater.
