Why I chose this

To me, the 14 YO Port Wood is the friendliest introduction to wine casks among our Tomatins. It has a soft, pinkish glow and just enough red fruit to stand out. I like to pour it at Christmas dinner or alongside a piece of blue cheese.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the pink hue of the Tomatin 14 YO Port Wood come from?

From the finish in Portuguese port casks. The wood has absorbed port and, during the finish, passes colour and red fruit on to the whisky. No colouring has been added, so the hue is entirely natural. It has not been chill-filtered either.

What is the difference between the 14 YO Port Wood and Tomatin's Italian Collection?

All four are finished in wine casks, but the 14 YO carries an age statement and is finished in port, a fortified Portuguese wine. The Italian Collection has no age statement and uses Italian wines: Amarone, Barolo and Marsala. The Port Wood is softly red-fruited and the most approachable starting point.

Should you drink the Tomatin 14 YO Port Wood with ice?

Preferably not: neat or with a few drops of water the red fruit shows at its best. Cold dulls exactly that fruity sweetness. On a hot summer's day a single ice cube is fine, but taste it at room temperature first to discover what the port casks do.
