This 17-year-old release from Living Souls is a blend of 50% Glenrothes malt whisky (from sherry casks) and 50% North British grain whisky (from bourbon and sherry casks). North British has been a major grain distillery near Edinburgh since 1885, traditionally supplying mainly the blending industry — here Living Souls lets this grain whisky shine under its own name, alongside its Speyside malt partner.
Our Flavor Compass divides whisky into four flavor areas. The dot indicates where this bottle stands.

For anyone seeking a full, approachable blend with a respectable age and a special grain whisky story.
Delicious with toffee pudding, apple pie or a mild, creamy cheese.
Grain whisky rarely gets a leading role, and that is exactly what makes this 17-year-old from Living Souls such fun. Half Glenrothes, half North British: soft, sweet and surprisingly rich. I pour it with dessert for people who think a blend is simple by definition.
A blend of 50% Glenrothes malt whisky and 50% North British grain whisky, both at least seventeen years old. The Glenrothes matured in sherry casks, the North British in bourbon and sherry casks. Together they make a full, sweet blend at 48% ABV, not chill-filtered and with no colouring.
A large grain distillery near Edinburgh that has been making whisky since 1885 and has traditionally supplied mainly grain whisky to the blending industry. You rarely see North British on its own. Living Souls presents this grain whisky under its own name here, alongside malt whisky from Speyside.
Because it is a different experience, not a lesser one. The grain whisky brings softness and approachability, the sherry-matured malt adds depth and dried fruit. At seventeen years both components are mature and rounded. Ideal for anyone seeking a full, sweet dram with an unusual story.
