Selbrae House
Selbrae House hip flasks come from Scotland and are made of stainless steel, either wrapped in leather or engraved directly into the metal. The motifs are drawn from Scottish outdoor life and sport, from red deer, pheasant and Highland cow to golf, shooting, sailing and football. With a capacity of 177 ml and a flat shape they slip into a coat pocket or shooting vest, ready for a dram on the go.

There are three versions to choose from. The leather hip flasks are the classic choice; the Luxe Sets in engraved stainless steel come with two cups and a mini filling funnel in a wooden gift box. The Game Sets combine a leather hip flask with cups, funnel, chess pieces, cards and dice in a box whose lid doubles as a chessboard. Hip flasks and hunting flasks from other brands can be found under hip flasks & hunting flasks.
How do you look after a Selbrae House leather hip flask?
Keep the leather dry and clean only the inside with water. Rinse the flask with warm water after use, leave it open and upside down to dry, and wipe the leather with a dry, soft cloth. Never put the flask in the dishwasher or submerge it, as moisture can stain, shrink or loosen the leather. Ideally fill it using the funnel, so no whisky ends up on the leather.
What is the difference between the leather hip flask, the Luxe Set and the Game Set?
The leather hip flask is stainless steel with a leather cover and an engraved motif, in gift packaging. The Luxe Set has an engraved stainless steel flask with two cups and a mini funnel in a wooden box, handy for sharing a dram. The Game Set goes further still: alongside a leather hip flask, two cups and a funnel, you get chess pieces, a pack of cards and five dice.
How much whisky fits in a 177 ml hip flask?
A 177 ml hip flask holds about five 3.5 cl drams, or seven smaller 2.5 cl measures. That is enough to share with a few people on the go, for example on a shooting day, a round of golf or a walk. Do not fill the flask right to the brim, so that the cap closes properly, and use the funnel from the Luxe Set or Game Set to avoid spills.
Is a Selbrae House hip flask a good gift for someone who shoots or plays golf?
Yes, because the motifs tie in directly with pastimes such as shooting, fishing, golf, sailing, cycling and motorsport. For someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, a leather hip flask with the right motif is a personal and practical gift. To make it a complete present, choose the Luxe Set with cups and funnel in a wooden box, or the Game Set for someone who also enjoys games.
Are the motifs on Selbrae House hip flasks engraved?
Yes. On the leather hip flasks and Game Sets, Selbrae House engraves the motif into the leather; on the Luxe Sets it is engraved directly into the stainless steel. An engraving stays clearly visible even after years in a coat pocket or shooting vest. Leather gives the flask a warm, classic look, while the stainless steel version is cleaner and more timeless.
