Uncharted Whiskey Co.: the whiskey bottler without a distillery name on the label

Uncharted Whisky Co: de whisky-bottelaar zonder distilleerderijnaam op het etiket - Mood4whisky

Uncharted Whisky Co. is one of Scotland's younger independent bottlers, run by just two people from a small village in the Campsie Fells, north of Glasgow. No marketing department, no fixed release schedule — but a keen taste and a pronounced aversion to predictability.

Two people, one taste test

Jack Breslin and Dana de Vos founded Uncharted Whisky Co. in 2020, after years in various roles within the Scottish drinks industry. Since then, they have run the company together from Fintry — a village in the Campsie Fells otherwise best known for the 18th-century Fintry Inn, which now also serves as a tasting location for the brand. There is no production schedule and no quarterly target: a cask is bottled "when it is ready," and only if it passes what the founders themselves call "the Jack-and-Dana test." They have to love it themselves, otherwise it doesn't make it to market.

Off the grid: no distillery name on the label

The name is a program. Uncharted deliberately seeks out "the strange, the wondrous, and the extraordinary" — casks from distilleries that are not the obvious choice, combined with unusual cask maturations. The distillery name is by no means always listed on Uncharted's own labels; sometimes only a region or a playful name hints at the origin: hence "off the grid malts". Mood4Whisky does mention the origin in its own product description, so you know what you are tasting — the quest is for Jack and Dana, not for you.

Minimal Intervention Scotch

All Uncharted releases are bottled without cold filtration and without added coloring — what the founders themselves call "Minimal Intervention Scotch." Everything is done by hand, in small batches, without the production pressure of a big brand.

What Mood4Whisky from Uncharted offers

At Mood4Whisky, you will find four Uncharted releases: the Blue Collection 8 Year Old (Aultmore), the Tomatin 12 Year Old, the Orkney 20 Year Old from the Park Life series, and the Royal Brackla 8 Year Old named "Paint It Brack". Each bottle is single cask or small batch and bottled without fuss — exactly as Jack and Dana intended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is behind Uncharted Whisky Co.?

Jack Breslin and Dana de Vos, who have been running the company together from Fintry in the Campsie Fells since its founding in 2020.

Why isn't the distillery name always on the bottle?

That is the brand's "off the grid" concept: for some of the releases, the origin is consciously kept off the label, as a nod to the adventurous, exploratory character of the releases.

Is Uncharted a distillery?

No, it is an independent bottler: Jack and Dana buy casks from existing Scottish distilleries and bottle them themselves, without cold filtration and without coloring.

What does "Minimal Intervention Scotch" mean?

Uncharted's promise to intervene as little as possible in the whisky: no cold filtration and no coloring.

What is the UC Syndicate?

An Uncharted cask club that allows enthusiasts to buy a share in a cask instead of a whole cask.
