A zebra with a golden crown, engraved in slate: unexpected details like this turn an ordinary coaster into a talking point. Just Slate Company makes them by hand in Scotland.
Put them on the table at your next get-together and chances are someone will ask about them before the first glass is empty. A cheerful gift for anyone who loves animals and quirky design. Combine them with the giraffe, leopard or elephant from the same golden crown series.
Slate is a natural stone: every coaster has its own markings and edge, and no two are exactly alike. Use only water and a cloth for cleaning; if the stone turns a little grey over time, rub in a touch of olive oil and it will regain its deep, dark colour.
Whisky is a ritual for me, and the small things around it complete that ritual. I choose accessories that are beautiful to look at and pleasant to use.
